Ditton Church Pre-School was opened in January 2001 and is run by a Management Committee. It was originally set up by St Peter’s Church, Ditton and a small committee of parents. The Pre-School started with six children, has grown considerably over the years and continues to thrive.

All our staff hold, or are working towards a Pre-School qualification and staff and regular volunteers are checked by the DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service).

The Pre-School is registered with the KCC and offers funding for three and four year olds and also for some two year olds subject to eligibility.

The Pre-School is also registered with the Office for Standards in Education (OFSTED). Our last Ofsted inspection took place in May 2022 and we were rated as a Good setting.

REGISTRATION

Asset 16@4x-8.png

We offer a warm welcome for each individual child and family, and  provide a caring environment within which all children can learn and develop as they play. We run four morning sessions - Monday to Thursday, and four afternoon sessions - Monday, to Thursday, during normal school term times. Some of the afternoon sessions are for our Rising Stars; that is those children due to start at infant school the following September.

Whilst we are a church Pre-School, we welcome children from all backgrounds and beliefs. We celebrate the main Church of England festivals, some in the Church Building, and will inform parents in advance of these occasions. We are linked to St Peter's Church and Reverend Ross Terranova warmly welcomes all pre-school families.  Ross is also the Chairperson of our Pre-School Committee. For more information about St Peter's Church please visit the website www.dittonchurch.org.uk. Other religions and festivals are recognised over the course of the year as part of our extensive Personal, Social and Emotional development curriculum.

I started work at the Pre-School as Catering Assistant and In April 2014, after completing my studies I became a Preschool Practitioner. I then progressed from  Level 2 qualification to  Level 3  in Early Years. I really enjoy working with the children and watching them develop. I have now been promoted to Deputy Supervisor and I am also the  Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator for the setting.

I have had the absolute pleasure of working at Ditton Church Pre-School and playing with all the lovely children since September 2011. Since starting I have found the time to study and qualify for NVQ Level 2 and Level 3 in Early Years Foundation Stage. I have a long connection to the Pre-School as my son was one of the first children to attend. My daughter followed 2 years later and I am very pleased to say that several staff members are still part of the Pre-School – proving what a lovely environment it is to be part of.

I was new to the area, moving locally in March 2019, so working at Ditton Church Pre-School has helped me to feel part of the community. I am married with three children and two grandchildren, who are my absolute world. I have been a qualified Pre-School Practitioner since 2005 when I achieved my Level 3 Diploma in Pre-School Practice. I an the partnership with parents representative for the setting.

My first contact with DCPS was as a parent, as both of my children attended and loved their time at Pre School. In 2015 I joined the staff team as Bank Staff covering staff training and sick days.

Over the years I have learnt so much about child development and care and I am thrilled to have  joined the permanent staff team as a Preschool Preschool Practitioner having achieved a  Level 3 qualification in Early Years. I am the Health and Safety Representative for the setting.

My journey at Ditton church preschool began when I chose to work as bank staff while my son attended. From there, I transitioned into a one-to-one role, which eventually led to a full-time practitioner position. Alongside my work, I have embarked on an apprenticeship to become a Level 3 qualified practitioner, driven by my passion for early childhood education. I'm dedicated to both my role and my professional growth, and I'm honored to contribute to the nurturing environment we provide for the children in our care.

SANDIE

I am Childcare Development Practitioner at Ditton Church Pre-School and I have a Level 4 qualification in Early years. Until  2013 I was Deputy Supervisor for the Pre-school. My current role draws on all of my past experience in childcare, and involves assisting the Wendy with management tasks and researching current childcare views and legislation. I enjoy working as part of a strong team who all have a shared passion for ensuring that our Pre-School children have a happy and positive early learning experience with us.

JANE

My three children all started their education at Ditton Church Pre-School and I had the privilege of being a member of the Management Committee whilst they attended. I enjoyed it so much that I then joined the team as Administrator. I love being part of the lively, happy Pre-School team.
