Ditton Church Pre-School was opened in January 2001 and is run by a Management Committee. It was originally set up by St Peter’s Church, Ditton and a small committee of parents. The Pre-School started with six children, has grown considerably over the years and continues to thrive.

All our staff hold, or are working towards a Pre-School qualification and staff and regular volunteers are checked by the DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service).

The Pre-School is registered with the KCC and offers funding for three year olds and also for some two year olds subject to eligibility.

The Pre-School is also registered with the Office for Standards in Education (OFSTED). Our last Ofsted inspection took place in May 2022 and we were rated as a good setting.

REGISTRATION

Asset 16@4x-8.png

We offer a warm welcome for each individual child and family, and  provide a caring environment within which all children can learn and develop as they play. We run five morning sessions - Monday to Friday, and three afternoon sessions - Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, during normal school term times. Some of the afternoon sessions are for our Rising Stars; that is those children due to start at infant school the following September.

Whilst we are a church Pre-School, we welcome children from all backgrounds and beliefs. We celebrate the main Church of England festivals, some in the Church Building, and will inform parents in advance of these occasions. We are linked to St Peter's Church and Reverend Ross Terranova warmly welcomes all pre-school families.  Ross is also the Chairperson of our Pre-School Committee. For more information about St Peter's Church please visit the website www.dittonchurch.org.uk. Other religions and festivals are recognised over the course of the year as part of our extensive Personal, Social and Emotional development curriculum.

My family consists of my husband, my two grown-up children and our much loved dog! I have worked at Ditton Church Pre-School since January 2004 and love working with a team who are passionate about the work they do and supporting children and families.

I have early years qualifications at Levels 2, 3 and 4 and have undertaken leadership and management training, amongst many other courses. After working as Deputy Supervisor for many years, I took on the role of Supervisor in May 2011 and enjoy my diverse role of both working with the children and managing the day to day running of the setting and my amazing team of staff. I am also the named Safeguarding representative for the Pre-School.

I started work at the Pre-School as Catering Assistant and In April 2014, after completing my studies I became a Preschool Practitioner. I then progressed from  Level 2 qualification to  Level 3  in Early Years. I really enjoy working with the children and watching them develop. I have now been promoted to Deputy Supervisor and I am also the new Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator for the setting.  I have supported several children with additional needs and this is a new challenge which I am keen to take on.

I have had the absolute pleasure of working at Ditton Church Pre-School and playing with all the lovely children since September 2011. Since starting I have found the time to study and qualify for NVQ Level 2 and Level 3 in Early Years Foundation Stage. I am the setting representative for Health and Safety. I have a long connection to the Pre-School as my son was one of the first children to attend. My daughter followed 2 years later and I am very pleased to say that several staff members are still part of the Pre-School – proving what a lovely environment it is to be part of.

I have been involved with Ditton Church Pre School since 2002 when my own daughter started here. When my second  daughter started in 2007, I joined as bank staff, then as a Pre school practitioner, completing level 2 and 3 in Childcare, learning and development.

I reduced my hours and became catering assistant for a couple of years due to family commitments but returned to the role of practitioner in 2018. I am the deputy safeguarding representative.

I was new to the area, moving locally in March 2019, so working at Ditton Church Pre-School has helped me to feel part of the community. I am married with three children and a grandson, who is my absolute world. I have been a qualified Pre-School Practitioner since 2005 when I achieved my Level 3 Diploma in Pre-School Practice. I an the partnership with parents representative for the setting.

My first contact with DCPS was as a parent, as both of my children attended and loved their time at Pre School. In 2015 I joined the staff team as Bank Staff covering staff training and sick days.

Over the years I have learnt so much about child development and care and I am thrilled to have now joined the permanent staff team as a Preschool Preschool Practitioner and apprentice, undertaking my Level 3 qualification.

SANDIE

I am Childcare Development Practitioner at Ditton Church Pre-School and I have a Level 4 qualification in Early years. Until January 2013 I was Deputy Supervisor for the Pre-school. My current role draws on all of my past experience in childcare, and involves assisting the Wendy with management tasks and researching current childcare views and legislation. I enjoy working as part of a strong team who all have a shared passion for ensuring that our Pre-School children have a happy and positive early learning experience with us.

EMMA

I joined DCPS in April 2008 when my son was here as a rising star. Over the years I completed an NVQ level 2 in Childcare then progressed onto a Level 3 Diploma in Children in the Work Force.  I became a senior member of staff and deputy safeguarding officer, completing many courses. I left in November 2019 to return to a career in administration.  In March 2021 I was fortunate enough to be offered the role of Pre School administrator. Having previously been a pre school assistant, I have a good insight into how the pre school runs and what is needed on a day to day basis. I’m enjoying the variety in my role and as an added bonus I get to help with the children when needed
